Did you want something more than just swords and vals? I think i've seen impressive tanks with just swords and vals.

Wow..am I that blind? I don't see any red at all. All i see is a bit of orange and yellow. Do please explain why these cacs would be considered triple red.

    Cacatuoides male or female?!

For sure males...or...maybe just not yet a female. Btw, I don't think it is a triple red.

    Sexing Cacatuiods

Man you're lucky to go back to your lfs so that you can chose a cac that you want. Here in southern california, it's sooooo hard just to find one!

    Biotype Plants

That is correct. The fish u described are from the Amazonas River and southern tributraries. You're only looking in to sword plants and vallisneria. Those are the only plants that i've heard about in all south american biotope tanks. U might have already checked this site out...

    ?activated carbon?

Actually, what activated carbon(AC) does is take out mirco nutrients and perhaps some macro nutrients. What i know is that, if you have a planted tank, there's no need for AC. Your plants will do the job. I personally do not like to use chemicals to remedy my algae problems. If you have an...

    algae problems

Hmm. Here's my suggestion: Get all u'r water parameters. pH, GH, KH, phosphate, nitrate and temp. Whatever you can provide would be nice and we'll work it from there. Is the algae green or more in the darkish grey area? Meanwhile, while we figure out what's really going on with your...

    anubias question

It doesn't matter where you plant the anubius as long as the rhizome is not covered by any form of substrate. So if you would like to put anubius near the bottom of the tank, you'd probably want to use rocks to keep them anchored. And if u'd like them on your driftwood, then tie them on to the...

    algae problems

How often do you do your water changes? Getting hair algae at almost 1 watt/gallon is pretty strange to me. Check the flow of water in each area of the tank. Where do most of the algae grow? Which corner or what areas and how strong does the water flow there?

    A. Cacs not eating??

It's been two weeks already huh? That is kind of strange and odd. However, to live two weeks without eating is also pretty strange too. Are you sure they aren't eating any shrimps that you might have? My triple red cac is loving my frozen blood worms, but I did hear before that they'd prefer...

    Apistogramma sp "reddot" F-2's Spawned

What are your tank parameters? Size and everything. And what kind of scape setup do you have? I have two pairs in my high light 29 gallon tank. I'm wondering if i should do anything else to encourage breeding. edit: I'm sorry. Didn't know u were referring to sp's. But do answer...
