    Diet for Pelvicachromis?

Thank you that makes sense that they were trying to get to the little microorganisms or bugs hidden in the algae rather than the algae itself!! Vegetable matter in this case meant (quoted from the site): In studies conducted on wild fish, crustacean food was found in the bellies of under a...

    Diet for Pelvicachromis?

What do you guys feed your Pelvicachromis? Some sites say they're omnivorous, while others say stomach analysis of wild fish have shown that they tend to eat a lot more vegetable matter than previously thought. Could them eating mostly vegetable matter be because that's just what is more readily...

    How to sex Hongsloi?

Hi I'm planning to get a hongsloi pair soon but I'm not able to find much clear info on how to sex them besides that a male's dorsal fin is more pointed, they're bigger and more colourful. Are there any other points to take note of? Also at what size can you sex them relatively reliably?

It helps to look at the fish from above. Pineconing scales will be much easier to see. Unfortunately dropsy is symptom and can be caused by a variety of things including bacterial, viral or parasitic infections. Very occasionally people have had success with broad spectrum antibiotics. Sorry the...

    Need Help Sexing Wild Cacatuoides

Ah I see, thank you for your help! I'll remove the little one when quarantine is over, he shows not even a tiniest bit of black on the ventral fins and when stressed out (like in one of the pics) the front of the ventrals turns a very dark blue but not really black. I threw back in the clump of...

    Need Help Sexing Wild Cacatuoides

Hi!! I'm wondering whether this fish is likely a female Cacatuoides or likely a sneaker male? I uploaded quite a few pics to hopefully give a better picture of what the fish looks like. Their caudal is round and so is the end of their dorsal. There doesn't seem to be any extended dorsal rays...
