    Rainbow Cichlids

I believe it was a bit too cold in my house for them to spawn until now, water temps in winter were high 60sF and have just started to warm up. I moved the multispinossa to the kiddy pool when Cichlasoma dimerus "bella union"spawned in the tank they shared, being from Uruguay, the dimerus seemed...

    Rainbow Cichlids

I grew out 10 in a 60 gal tall tank, they were @ 1" back in May 2014 when I picked them up. Back in Feb, they hit 3"-4". Just moved them to a 500 gal kiddy pool to allow for spawning.

    Raising brine shrimps to adult

After my indoor hatcheries are depleted, I toss the remains in 2 preform ponds, and an old upturned skylight in the back yard starting in April, and can usually pull out net fulls of adults starting in late May, and throughout the entire summer, until maybe mid October. Collecting rainwater

I use rain water mixed with tap to induce breeding for hard water Central Americans, and Betta's. Sorry but Pelvicachromis is out of my element.

    Collecting rainwater

I collect rainwater spring thru fall, and mix it with tap to induce breeding. Really seems to charge certain fish up to...

    Looking for a camera

One inexpensive added piece to get, is one of those photo thumb drives (<$20), after a day of shooting, you put you memory card in it to download to your computer, and can erase the pics after they're downloaded. This saves valuable battery usage. The Rebel also can take reasonable non fish...

    Looking for a camera

I use a Rebel, the pic below is one of the first pics I took with it, using the standard lens that came with the camera, maybe 5 years ago Not long ago I picked up a macro ring, to see whether I should upgrade, the images are a bit softer A few weeks ago I broke the original lens, and picked...

How to mimic deep leaf litter?

For me, the maple leaves break down fairly quickly, especially with the cichlids chewing on them. It will be interesting to see how the magnolia leaves hold up.
