I've had the same experience as slimbolen- even when guarding eggs or fry, Apistos don't even seem to regard otos as fish. They're just little algae robots or something. Corys, on the other hand, will get chased away ruthlessly.
Oh, and Mike's right- more corys would be good too. They're pretty social little guys. I usually never keep fewer than 6.

The only upper level amazon fish I'd do in a ten would be the aforementioned hatchets or pencil fish. Although as I look at my living-room 20gal, a cory is sticking eggs on the glass 2/3 of the way up, so I guess you never know where your fish are going to hang out.
10 gallon tanks are hard...
Upper levels? Definitely not an apisto or a ram, regardless of other occupants. What about a beta or a gourami?

Well, I don't want to count my fry before they're hatched... it is this pair's first attempt, after all. Although the female has been moving back and forth between two caves all morning, so I'm hopeful that's a "moving wigglers" routine. When I do get fry, though, that sounds like a good plan!
Agreed. The neons were the least of my worries above. If you must have corys and an apisto, a big enough footprint to ensure that they each have enough space, and *heavily* decorating / breaking up the bottom of the tank are the way to go. But if you'd have to get a new tank to have a bigger...
The one picture I got of the right side, I actually counted 3 spots, thought there were two, but I think in real life I thought the bar 6 spot was bar 7. Anyway. Here are the best pictures I could get:

Well, I went to a wedding this weekend, after these two had been waving fins at each other for a little while, and I was starting to think they would never figure out what they needed to do. Got back and could only find the male fish- turns out despite having several cave-like structures in...
I wouldn't, for multiple reasons:
Apistos and Corys occupy the same bottom region of the tank, and 10gal doesn't give them much room. More room would help, but even then people have had issues with this combination. Especially if you get a pair that breeds, they'll be very aggressive towards...
Wet Spot Tropical Fish in Portland, OR has always been good for me. ApistoDave is also in Oregon (he sells on aquabid, or you can email him directly. I'm on the east coast and have had them both ship fish that have arrived in great shape.
Update with some hopefully more useful pics.
My original female developed a swim bladder issue, and is happily living in a community tank. I got another female, who got mailed to the wrong address, and took an extra two days to arrive. She has now been in the tank for almost two weeks, and...
Dimensions like that, I might do 2M 3F? I think 1M would be fine, but having a second could add an interesting social dynamic, and it looks like you've got the room and cover to support it. Sorry to hear about your losses- wish I could help, but it would be just as lonely in my care at the...
