i've watched cories predate eggs often enough to know not to keep them with any type of dwarfs. maybe you don't need to actively breed your fish but watching the cories just run in and take the eggs or fry at will can't be fun can it?

kh rises due to some substance being added to the water. there is either this case, or your tests are off. maybe check a little more carefully? i've not had a problem using ferts, there doesn't seem to be much in them which will affect kh.

i have treated with 1/20 household bleach to water and with 1/50 solutions, and i haven't had any problems with the 1/50 treatment. a 5 min 1/50 bleach dip will kill anything afaik. with delicate pants you are taking your own risks.

your ruby rams will do fine in that water, but successful breeding may be hit and miss. you might get a few. but they should live in your water perfectly fine. getting 6 was a wise choice. they do better as a school till you get 2 paired off ime. but a 55 gal is plenty big enough.
